About this property

Welcome to The Old Manor House Hotel

Housed in a historic building dating back to 1609, The Old Manor House Hotel offers a cosy and characterful stay with a mix of traditional features and modern comforts. Guests can enjoy free breakfast in the restaurant, relax in the warm bar or wine bar, and make use of function room facilities including a ballroom, making it suitable for weddings and events. The property also features a beer garden, providing a pleasant outdoor space for drinks during favourable weather.

Located at 5 Bristol Rd in Keynsham, Bristol, the hotel benefits from a convenient position close to transport links, with Keynsham train station just minutes away. This makes it a practical base for exploring nearby attractions such as The Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and The Royal Crescent. Reviewers often highlight the excellent location for day trips and the hotel's welcoming, friendly staff.

The Old Manor House is known for its well-prepared meals, including popular Sunday lunches and evening steaks, served in a relaxed pub and restaurant setting. Guests appreciate generous portions, quality ingredients, and attentive service. However, due to the building's age and layout, the property is less suitable for those with limited mobility as there is no lift and some amenities, like the ladies' restroom, are accessed via stairs.

As an LGBTQ+ friendly establishment with a 4.4 rating from over 370 reviews, the hotel attracts visitors seeking a historic and comfortable environment with a strong local character. While not modern in design, its charm and hospitality appeal to those who enjoy staying in unique, older properties. Nearby airports such as Bristol Airport provide reasonable access for travellers arriving by air.

I'll give this hotel 5 stars. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were lovely. The evening meal and the breakfast were both delicious. It is a very old building in a conservation area so you know what to expect. Very lovely stay.

Perfect location for day trips to Bath & Bristol, both 10 minutes away by train, with the station just a couple of minutes walk away. Breakfast was very good, with quality ingredients. Obviously being built in 1609 it is not a modern hotel but is lovely & quirky. Would definitely stay again.

Father's day we had a family meal. It was absolutely delicious. Best Sunday lunch for a long while. Even catered for my husbands needs for change of vegetables. Cooked peas for him and they were plentiful, could serve 2 people. The meat was large portions. The turkey was cooked so tender and moist and the pork. I had the short beef of rib. That was stunning. We struggled to eat it all of it, but too delicious to leave. The soup I had to start was delicious, best tomato soap I have ever had. My husband said the battered tiger prawns were the best he ever had. They also cater for adults who want a smaller meal. A big jug of gravy was given when we asked for extra gravy. . Finally found somewhere to go for Sunday lunch, when we are visiting family in Bristol. Will be eating there every Sunday we are down and also in the week. Nice they stagger the seating. So your meal is being home cooked for you. Sick of eating in restaurants where everyone attends at the same time and then your waiting hours to be served. It was lovely atmosphere. Nice spaced table planning. Only downside is the toilet for ladies is upstairs and no disabled toilet downstairs, but they can't alter the building. But if u take a puff of your inhaler and someone can assist you. It's worth the climb of stairs. Highly recommend. Nice to have different veg, which u wouldn't have at home and you can order extra dishes, like cauliflower cheese. You can order extra Yorkshire and potatoes. But you honestly don't need it. Can't wait to come back for a steak.

We and another couple stayed here for two nights as part of walking from Bath to Bristol. It is 5 minutes walk from Keynsham Station so very convenient as a stopover. The building dates from 1609 and has many old fashioned oil portraits on the wall. Particularly appealing to those who value historic places. The staff were lovely, nothing too much trouble. We ate here both evenings and the food was excellent. We all were very pleased with our choice of accommodation. It is probably worth saying this is not a suitable place for someone with mobility difficulties. The entrance is not level and the floors are uneven. The corridors are narrow and there is no lift to the first floor where the bedrooms are.

They have an enclosed garden in the back which is nice for a drink when the weather is nice. Had dinner and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was, good quality and nice presentation, the fish was good and the chips seemed to be homemade. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.
